About equality and non-discrimination

Equality is practical governance, not ideology. Every resident deserves equal quality of service regardless of their background, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, or age.

In Kirkkonummi municipal council I proposed that the municipality raise the Pride flag during Pride week — a concrete signal of inclusion that data shows matters for rainbow youth wellbeing. The council voted for it. Research consistently shows that visible recognition by public institutions improves mental health outcomes for LGBTQ+ young people. A small gesture with a measurable effect.

An inclusive community is also a competitive one. Municipalities that actively welcome diversity attract a wider talent pool, foster innovation, and signal to residents and newcomers that they are valued. Equality and economic vitality reinforce each other — they are not in tension.
